The Few. The Proud

While I was crossing the parking lot at the Exchange at Camp Pendleton, I noticed four young privates saluting me with their left hands. Perhaps they thought I wouldn’t catch it. After a light-hearted conversation about their unique preference for left-handed push-ups, they enthusiastically spent the next 20 minutes showcasing their skills for me. A Gunnery Sergeant who observed this offered to school the privates on proper saluting etiquette. I appreciated his willingness to assist but declined, telling him that once I finished, he was welcome to address it in his own way. I do not doubt that those privates learned a valuable lesson that day.
