Story Behind the Candles

Scents have a powerful connection to memory and can evoke strong emotions. A particular scent can transport you back to a cherished memory, a favorite vacation, or a comforting moment from your past. This ability to trigger nostalgia and positive associations is one of the main reasons people enjoy scented candles. Each candle can tell a personal story, and while my collection reminds me of a rich history, several have stories worth sharing.

Growing up surrounded by the Great Salt Lake, the Wasatch Mountains, and crystal-clear lakes of Northern Utah, my summers were filled with camping, hiking, and fishing. The vibrant colors of fall and the warmth of winter gatherings left lasting impressions on me. This nostalgia inspired me to seek out fragrances that capture those simple yet special moments, reminding me of how our past enriches our present and helps us reconnect with our most treasured memories. 

Island View Candles is a small-batch, veteran-owned, family business here in Kansas City, Missouri. While I may be the crafter behind production, Kona and Bailey oversee the rest of the operation, but only when they are not chasing each other throughout the house or the squirrels in the backyard.
