In 1954, a remarkable man named Charles arrived at Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) in Utah, returning from nearly two years of service as an ambulance driver in Korea. During one of his duties, he met a young civilian woman, Betty, and transported her to a local hospital due to illness. He would check in on her later that evening, and they were later married. Together, they built a beautiful family, and as the youngest of their six children, I often tease my older sisters that our parents achieved perfection and decided to stop there! My father may have left the US Air Force long ago. Still, my sister, Dixie, has proudly served as a civilian employee at HAFB for nearly 30 years, eagerly anticipating her upcoming retirement.
This candle captures the essence of my family’s journey, blending citrus, bergamot, sweet orange, and creamy coconut to evoke joyful memories. A rich base of amber and vanilla evokes the feeling of sun-kissed, bronzed skin, while a touch of musk conjures images of a warm, fading sunset.
I love to joke that I owe a great deal to the Air Force for all the places it took me, even when I was sitting backward with no windows during those flights! With this candle, I honor my dad, my sister, and all airmen everywhere—because without the dedication of the US Air Force, my story would be entirely different. Join me in celebrating this incredible legacy!
